Applications are now open for skilled and experienced professionals seeking a career change into the teaching profession!

Teach Next provides a new pathway into teaching for professionals with specialist qualifications and experience in areas of teacher shortage such as mathematics and science, and in hard to staff schools, particularly in regional areas.

Successful applicants will undertake six weeks of intensive training initially, followed by a two year school placement in Western Australia or the Australian Capital Territory, during which they will undertake ongoing study and earn a diploma of teaching.

Participants will need to hold a graduate degree in fields such as mathematics, science or languages other than English, and will be working on a reduced teaching load and receive support from their employer and a teacher mentor.

At the completion of the postgraduate employment-based teacher education course, participants will be eligible to apply for employment vacancies within Western Australia and the ACT, provided they obtain the relevant teacher registration.
