AMSI Intern and AMSI are pleased to announce Accelerate Australia: a one-day event focusing on productivity, industry engagement and work readiness of PhD students in a research-based economy.

Delivering the keynote address will be Prof. Arvind Gupta, CEO and Scientific Director of Mitacs in Canada. Mitacs, in partnership with companies, government and academia, runs a number of programs that support their strategy of long-term human capital development. Through their program Mitacs Accelerate, Mitacs places more than 2,000 PhD interns across all disciplines into Canadian enterprise each year.

Accelerate Australia will also include a showcase of research collaborations with PhD interns with Australian businesses in a range of industries.

Partnership with MISG

November 2012

AMSI, AMSI Intern and ANZIAM are pleased to announce a new partnership arrangement with the Mathematics-and-Statistics in Industry Study Group (MISG). The MISG workshop brings together leading mathematicians from universities and industry to tackle complex technical problems facing Australian and New Zealand businesses and industry.

Under this new arrangement, opportunities may be available for AMSI Intern industry partners to participate in the MISG each year, as well as potential opportunities for internships with current MISG industry partners.

As part of AMSI's support for the MISG, academics and researchers from AMSI member institutions may apply for funding from the AMSI travel fund to attend the MISG. Students wishing to attend the MISG can apply for funding through the CSIRO-ANZIAM Student Support Scheme.
